Startup of the week: Hedyla

Published in Jul 18, 2019

The startup of this week is: Hedyla. It is a startup focused in Optimization of logistics with Artificial Intelligence and Big Data analytics. It provides a platform on the cloud, easy to set-up, that extracts data from the multiple systems of logistic companies, combines it, and produces useful insights using AI and Big Data, to:

    1) Detect issues on the supply chain, anomalies, and plan the core activities to maximize the performance using the latest AI techniques.
    2) Provides the information that is key to make better decisions, both strategic and operational, in form of dashboards.
    3) Makes decisions automatically to reduce human mistakes. It does not only provides information to humans, but also is able to be integrated into existing systems to automatically make actions, allowing also to save time and dedicate human resources where it really matters.
    4) It’s easy to set-up, and does not need any additional hardware. In addition, all the updates are provided without additional cost in the cloud platform.

How and when did the idea of your startup arise?

The three of us were working on projects related to logistics before, and we realised there is a need in the market for advanced analysis and information techniques on such sector, as they are using either old management software or programs that do not take advantage of all the data produced in the warehouse and the supply chain; applying modern optimisation techniques could improve the performance of logistics companies.

Which problem does your company want to solve?

Efficiency is a critical concern for logistic companies, that are always looking for the way to improve it and, therefore, have wider margins.
Even in the biggest logistic companies, many decisions are taken by a human using intuition, experience, and spreadsheets. Even though the decisions of humans may be acceptable, they are far from perfect. In addition, hey are given hundreds of lines of data to make decisions; humans are not computers, they always do mistakes.
On the other hand, the systems that are responsible for helping in the planning of operations are rigid and use simple techniques that do not produce a high efficiency and use of resources. Furthermore, they only perform basic analysis of data, that is not enough for an easy decision making.

Making informed decisions, avoiding human mistakes and saving time is crucial to reach the goal of having greater efficiency. Intuition is not enough.

Which is your value proposition?

We provide a platform on the cloud, easy to set-up, that extracts data from the multiple systems of logistic companies, combines it, and produces useful insights using AI and Big Data, to:

Why is Data so important for your business?

Our products are all based on data analysis from the warehouse, the distribution and the rest of the supply chain.

Which are the main benefits of using your products/services?

Current systems are so complex that adding new features takes a long time, they are not agile. In addition, there is no system that integrates all the information not only from the Warehouse Management System, but also from ERP, Transport Management System or other systems inside logistics to provide really useful insights.

We combine information from all of such systems and, moreover, produce the information that the people really need to make decisions and improve productivity, without hassle. All the analysis and configuration is performed on the cloud, not having to dedicate resources of their IT department, as they would have to using other solutions.

In addition, we do not offer only data analysis and resource planning, but also dashboards, and we plan to help in most of the processes of the supply chain in the future with only one platform, without needing to have ten different products.

Which are the main challenges that you are facing today?

Right now, our biggest challenge is to get customers, as we are three engineers with a lack of experience on such field.

What do you expect from Data Market Services?

We expect mentoring on selling skills, networking with other companies, marketing and the possibility to reach some investors.
